at Cavan Equestrian Centre
The 2011 sales year at Cavan Equestrian Centre proved even amid a very tough trading time, that hard work,
perseverance and a strong co-operation between vendor and purchaser that there is still plenty of
movement in the marketplace.
The backbone of auctions at Cavan Horse Marketing Centre are the International Performance
Sales and these are held annually in February/March, April, June, August, October and November.
Whether it is at the start of the year in preparation for the coming season, mid year searching for an Elite
animal or at the end of year and trying to reduce stock fantastic opportunities were to be had for both
vendors and purchasers.
Three year olds led the way in the higher price bracket with a 3 year old Luidam gelding out of a Lux Z mare
topping the October International Performance Sale and the Premier 3 Year old Sale in August saw a 3 year
old Shannondale Sarco gelding out of a Cruising mare topping the sale.
While not to be outdone ponies decided to make sure they left their mark with
• GRANTSTOWN REBEL a 148 grey gelding by Ballyard Prince finding changed hands for €7,600
• DEEL RIVER COPPER a 148 chestnut gelding moving to England for €7,200
• MADGES LANE JOEY a 148 black gelding stayed in Ireland for €4,500
Horses and ponies were also traded at smaller prices and over the years there is evidence that quite a
